How To Buy Bitcoin

Step 1 - Select Buy Bitcoin Button

Tap on the screen (if the screensaver is active) and select the Buy Bitcoin option from the menu.

Step 2 - Enter Phone Number

To start the process you'll use your phone number to sign into your account. We'll generate and send you a single-use passcode to log in.
If your account is already verified this step will sign you straight into the Bitcoin ATM.

Step 3 - Verify Your Account

If it's your first time using one of our ATMs, then we'll send a link to your phone so you can verify your account. In most cases it takes under 2 minutes to complete and is all done automatically, you won't need to talk to us at all!

Step 4 - Scan Your Bitcoin Receiving Address

You'll be prompted to scan the QR code for the BTC address where you'd like the funds sent. Hold your phone up to the camera on the lower left side of the screen until the Bitcoin ATM decodes the address.

Step 5 - Insert Cash

The cash acceptor lights will illuminate when ready to receive. Insert one note at a time.
Don't insert any damaged or torn notes.

Step 6 - Send Bitcoin

Once you have inserted your desired amount, complete the transaction with the Buy BTC button. The Bitcoin will be sent to your chosen address shortly.
You can also choose a printed or emailed receipt for your records.

Things To Know Before Your Visit

To ensure your visit to this Eagle Bitcoin ATM on the Gold Coast goes as smoothly as possible, here are a few common questions to consider.

Is there any parking in Coolangatta?

Yes! There is free undercover parking at The Strand and plenty of on-street parking on Griffith Street.

How do I use an Eagle Bitcoin ATM?

To buy crypto, select the currency you'd like to purchase on the screen, and then press "BUY". From there, scan your wallets QR code using the ATM's scanner, and insert notes until you've reached the exact amount of crypto you want to purchase. Then hit the "Buy Bitcoin" or "Buy Altcoins" button on the bottom right of the screen and you're all done! The transaction will broadcast on the network and you'll see the crypto arrive in your wallet shortly. To sell crypto, press the BTC or altcoin button on the screen, and then press "SELL". Select how much cash you want to withdraw. The machine will print a redeemable voucher with a public key QR code on it, and will also tell you how much crypto you'll need to send to that address. Be sure to send the EXACT amount of crypto. Once your transaction is sent, you'll need to wait for 1 network confirmation before you can withdraw your cash. When it confirms, go back to the terminal and select the "Redeem Ticket" button, then scan your voucher to dispense your cash! See our guide for more info.

Do I need to register to buy or sell Bitcoin at the ATM?

Yes. Registration is required for us to be able to offer these services. Just be sure to bring your ID along with you when you attend the ATM and the simple verification process only takes a few minutes to complete.

What are the transaction limits?

The minimum buy and sell amount is $10.
The maximum buy amount is $5000 per day, with a limit of $20,000 per week.
The maximum sell amount is $2000 per day, with a limit of $10,000 per week.

Are there any fees?

The price shown on the ATM at the time of purchase is the complete price. There are no other fees or charges.

I'm having issues with the ATM, what should I do?

Please contact us with details about your issue and we'll help resolve it as soon as possible.

What banknotes are accepted?

Eagle Bitcoin ATMs accept all Australian banknotes. Please do not insert any damaged notes into the machine as this may cause issues.

Can I get a refund?

It is not possible to offer refunds. Since Bitcoin is a bearer asset, transactions cannot be reversed like regular bank transactions.
Once the payment is sent the transaction is final.

Can I send Bitcoin to someone elses wallet?

Please only send your Bitcoin directly to a wallet you control. Once you have taken possession of your BTC you can do with it as you please.

*Note* Be wary of scammers asking for payment with cryptocurrencies. Ensure anyone asking for payment with crypto is legitimate before proceeding.

What Cryptocurrencies can I buy and sell?

You can buy and sell Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum at Eagle Bitcoin ATMs. Other altcoins may also be available at times due to popular demand.
